Matthew Allan Clarke, "Good Sense," 2022
Opening Saturday, March 19 at 7pm: an exhibition of abstract concrete sculptures by Matthew Allan Clarke.
“I work in the trades. Concrete specifically. Its stressful, because there is a time limit, and it’s heavy. It’s also boring because the only thing you do is make flat floors. So, as an act of rebellion, and to direct my creative spirit, I make abstract sculptures out of concrete.
I draw inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky, Louise Nevelson, and Peter Hide. And I look at the spirit of modernity (the notion that brilliance can come from anywhere) and I create sculptures with engaging rhythm and movement.”
