Closing reception on Friday,October 28th from 5 to 7 p.m.
“The show is a visual representation of my last decade of immigration, through colours andtextures,” says Rosenberg. “It explores different landscapes, ways of engaging with theenvironment and places around us, and looks at how we fit into this texture so we can keepmoving forward with creativity and openness.”
The art in the exhibit incorporates wood, paint and embroidery, and provides a playfulperspective on what it is like to ‘re-root’ oneself in a new location. Rosenberg also tookinspiration from plants and the seasons in creating this body of work.
Maya moved to Whitehorse, Yukon in 2014. Before that she lived in numerous places aroundthe world, including Haifa, New York, and Calgary, and she has travelled extensively. She has exhibited in several galleries and juried shows, including Arts Underground, The Community Art Gallery at the Yukon Arts Center and has represented the Yukon at a gallery in Winnipeg.
