Summerland Art Gallery 9525 Wharton St, PO Box 1217, Summerland, British Columbia V0H 1Z0
Previously the ROA ripped off Grant Wood "American Gothic", Ansel Adams "San Francisco
Warehouses" and W. Kadinsky "Garden of Love. This year we are ripping off Emily Parent a Canadian Surrealist artist "Queen of Fishes".
We are a group of 9 Artists from the Oliver area in the South Okanagan. We have been working together since 2007 and have had great fun "Ripping Off" dead artists, such as Van Gogh, Klimt and Georgia O'Keeffe.
We get together early in the year and decide on an artist and artwork. We meet again for a week in the summer at the Quails Nest Center in Oliver, and each artist works on a piece of art based on the artwork chosen. Our artists each work in their medium and these include woodworking, digital photography, quilting, weaving, collage, abstract painting, felting and spinning, sculpture with found objects and painting on non-traditional surfaces. It is very interesting to see the different interpretation of the same painting in 9 different mediums.
