Having spent her whole life coming and going from the family ranch in Millarville and living in Calgary, Barbara Ballachey paints as a response to the rhythms of the earth – water flowing, trees singing, logs jamming, stone piles seen through holes in the river ice. Working in acrylic on canvas, Barbara seeks to record her connection to time spent in nature.
Barbara completed a BFA at the University of Calgary and has taught in numerous institutions across Western Canada. She has participated in shows across Canada and internationally. Her work is held in private and public collections.
'This work is my response to the visible, to what I see and find compelling, often in landscape; often in that of the foothills of Alberta. It is also an exploration of my fascination with visual language.'
