"Of Clay, Wattles and Cloth"

Mixed media artist, Melanie Thompson; ceramic artist, Claire Olivier; and fibre artist, Kaija Rautiainen share the spotlight as they bring together a collection of their work imbued with both natural and formal elements. Claire will exhibit ceramic work that reflects the effects and colours created through the use of organic materials in her pit firing process. Melanie combines traditional and other natural materials with basketry weaving techniques to create a series of table, floor, and hanging lamps and mixed media pieces. She will also incorporate several aerial pieces in the display. Kaija incorporates both high tech and traditional methods to create tapestries with a jacquard loom.
