The Port Moody Arts Centre is very pleased to announce that Otto Kamensek, Ceramics Artist in Residence, will be giving a talk titled, One Man’s Journey towards Art Appreciation, on Saturday, November 9th from 2 – 4pm at the Centre.
Seating is limited so please phone the Arts Centre 604.931.2008 to reserve your ticket – admission is free but a donation of $10 per person is suggested. All proceeds are going to to the ‘OK Bursary’ which was set up to assist artists in financial need.
Releasing pain, frustration and stress through artistic expression is the focus of this talk, slide show and discussion. From firsthand experience, you will see how art has the capacity to enhance the life and life experiences of those living with arthritis and other chronic diseases.
Otto is an accomplished ceramic artist, community volunteer, and an Emeritus member of the Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) at the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada. He has spoken nationally and internationally on art & health issues to audiences of students, artists, health professionals and the general public. Otto is using his year-long residency to explore and create a body of work related to his health and how it has affected his own body and the world around him. His goal is to create a conversation about what art and health care can offer one another.
He invites people to stop by his studio located in the Port Moody Arts Centre to talk about clay or health, listen to or tell stories, laugh, learn, be inspired, or just to say hello.
