Eighteenth and nineteenth-century artists continued to develop the seventeenth-century Dutch style of marine painting by accurately depicting ships and effectively capturing the adventure and excitement of life at sea. This exhibition explores the tradition of marine painting, an invaluable record of human design and invention, great battles and sailings throughout history. Artists included in this exhibition are Vilhelm Arnesen, Abraham Hulk, Carl Frederik Sorensen, James W. Callow, P.C. Dommersen, John Hammond and Samuel Walters. Showing alongside this exhibition is a selection of objets d’art, and antiques from Europe and North America.
