The Edge Gallery is pleased to present Out of the Woods, an exhibition by Barb Fyvie and Grant Berg. Please join us on Saturday November 23, from 2-5 pm for the exhibition opening and to meet the artists. This exhibition offers people a dual perspective of our Canadian forests; one through sculpture, the other in paint. Barb Fyvie is a painter from Canmore and her latest series entitled ‘The Silver Forest’ captures the burned wooded areas in Kootenay Park, BC. She is fascinated with the formal aspects of this landscape and it’s tapestry of graphic shapes, forms and textures that offer an endless field of study. Grant Berg is a sculpture from Grande Prairie. His works are expressions of trees carved from marble, serpentine, chlorite, rundlestone and salvaged brick. Drawing from his multicultural background, he allows himself to tap into traditional native art forms along with European and Canadian influences like the Group of Seven and Emily Carr. He takes that artistic spirit and energy and blends it with his own spirit and energy to create an exciting and uniquely Canadian three dimensional form.
