Join the Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) in celebrating Triangle, Circle, Square, a solo exhibition by sculptor and printmaker Paul Lapointe.
Triangle, Circle, Square is an exhibition expressing Lapointe’s close relationship with the land. Lapointe focuses on using reclaimed and found wood and stones found in the course of his travels. By using materials which have fallen naturally or have been reclaimed from being discarded, Lapointe intends to create work without damaging living organisms.
Lapointe discusses the title, Triangle, Circle, Square, in his artist statement, stating that it "reflects the process of creating largely abstract forms out of concrete experiences. The Euclidean shapes [triangles, circles, squares] name human ideas of space and its boundaries. While these shapes may manifest in nature, they do so without respect for human conceptions of the world. My work reflects the constant negotiation between human abstraction, the natural concrete, and my own need to manifest both."
