Curtis (Dwight Henry), a former basketball star now living on the streets of Detroit while struggling with mental illness is triggered by the loss of his championship ring. Drake (Alex Henderson), a passionate young basketball player in dire need of coaching meets Curtis. The two work together to help one another in this story about empathy.
This month’s Perspective focuses on compassion and empathy. The weight of loneliness is relieved in this film, as individuals with stigmatized struggles are met with encouragement from unlikely companions. Each person is looking for something from the past, from within, and for the future—intended to reframe ideas about mental health, disability, and teen pregnancy.
