The West End Gallery is pleased to present “Lights Embrace,” a solo exhibition of new works by Pierre Giroux opening on Saturday, March 23rd between 1pm and 4pm.
Pierre Giroux paints ghostly interiors and exteriors filled with gesture and light. He draws inspiration from houses in his local area of Southern Ontario as well as the grander rooms in Europe, particularly France. From a dilapidated farmhouse in Ontario to an Italian villa in Tuscany, his abandoned spaces evoke memories and nostalgia.
“The paintings play upon the fine line between reality and slight surrealism, always drawing upon the viewer to move within the rooms. Streams of light poke through windows and doors into dim interiors, calling you to venture out. Entryways flanked by trees and English gardens, invite you to walk back in. My hope is to evoke the memories of the many spaces we’ve visited, lived in and the role they’ve played upon our senses.” -Pierre Giroux, 2019.
Exhibition continues through April 4, 2019. All artwork is subject to pre-sale.
