The Port Moody Arts Centre presents three shows:
Functures
With influences from their Japanese and Russian heritage, Robert Shiozaki, a producer of fine handcrafted ceramics, and Anyuta Guskova, a contemporary sculptor, collaborated on a design project of functional pieces that fit together to build amusing ceramic pot people sculptures. The artists will also showcase work from their own art practices.
Messages from Vancouver
This series is the result of Moira Calder revisiting the city of Vancouver and its people, places and memories, with renewed footsteps over a 12-month time frame in 2013 -2014. Her work in mixed media, combines photography, drawing, collage and painting; and provides her with the means to explore a greater range of possibilities.
Being in the Round
Two groups within one exhibition exploring concepts of “being in the round”. The work of furniture designer Peter Chen and ceramic artist Robert Shiozaki intersect around the conceptual elements of their mediums. In the second group a ceramic mentorship project that describes their relationship as a spiral of interactive learning that develops in unknown directions. The second group features Eva Erdos, Linda Ward, Peter Chen, Roxanne Taylor, and Vitay Ha.
