Prisoner of Tehran
Canadian Museum for Human Rights 85 Israel Asper Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0L5
Don’t miss the only Winnipeg performance in a cross-country tour based on Marina Nemat’s best-selling book Prisoner of Tehran.
In a unique collaboration between Marina Nemat and MOTUS O Dance Theatre, this synthesis of a dance, theatre and spoken word brings Marina’s compelling story of oppression and freedom to life.
Marina Nemat was born in 1965 in Tehran, Iran. After the Islamic Revolution of 1979, she was arrested at the age of sixteen and spent more than two years in Evin, a political prison in Tehran, where she was tortured and nearly killed. She came to Canada in 1991 and has called this country home ever since. Marina’s book Prisoner of Tehran has been published in 28 countries and is an international bestseller. Marina’s story is featured in the Rights Today gallery on level 5.
This performance will be followed by a question and answer period with Marina, and a book signing at the Museum Boutique.
