“This show is an iceberg. Ninety-nine percent of the art that went into it isn’t shown at all. [The term] iceberg captures my process since I graduated from University of Alberta in 1972. Rather than find a gimmick and oversell it, I took nearly half a century to develop my voice, but more importantly to try to pay attention to what influences me. I rarely start a work or series with a final plan. So, instead of thinking that this piece should be my masterpiece, I begin with a thought or feeling. Sometimes the thoughts are shallow, or dishonest to me. I trust the science, art and craft that still fascinate me” — Rick Ducommun
