Marcel Duchamp’s radical act of turning found objects into artworks, thereby asserting that the creative act needs the spectator and not just the artist, continues to be relevant today.
This exhibition includes new work in which artists focus on their everyday surroundings and rural experiences where the use of found materials and their adaptation is deeply engrained. These artists playfully explore the mundane and aesthetic, low-tech and no-tech, decayed and handmade, as well as folk and DIY cultures. Artists include Adriana Kuiper, Ryan Suter, Norma Jean MacLean, Janice Wright Cheney, Will Gill, Kim Morgan, Clint Neufeld, Eryn Foster, Doug Lewis, and Geoffrey Hendricks.
