ACADSA Show and Sale, 2018
Deck your halls just in time for the holidays with artisanal arts and crafts found at the 2018 ACADSA Fall Show + Sale
Find bespoke items while supporting emerging ACAD artists, craft-makers and designers
Come see what Alberta’s designers, craft-makers and artists have created at Alberta College of Art + Design Students’ Association Fall Show + Sale on November 22-24, 2018. Show + Sale welcomes everyone to view and purchase over 3,000 pieces of handmade art with all proceeds going to support the ACAD student body.
These bespoke pieces will spruce up any home or make the perfect gift just in time for the holidays! More than 200 students showcase their work and ACADSA is anticipating this edition of Show + Sale will be one of the most successful celebrations of student talent they have ever hosted.
“Show + Sale has evolved over the years into a unique opportunity for Calgary’s young artists, designers, and craft-makers to present their work in a professional retail setting,” said Joel Farris, Career Development Program Manager with ACADSA. “Patrons who attend are offered an intimate glimpse into Calgary’s emerging creative class and this year is no exception.”
ACAD students develop entrepreneurial skills and profit from selling what they make with 30 per cent of ACAD graduates going on to start their own businesses. These skills are further enhanced by the RBC Emerging Artists Project, which helps artists’ bridge the gap from emerging to established. RBC supports organizations that provide the best opportunity to advance artists career trajectory and ACAD and ACADSA thank RBC for their support of Show + Sale’s educational opportunities through the project.
Please support Alberta’s emerging artists by purchasing work representing a range of the institution’s programs including painting, drawing, glass, jewellery + metals, fibre, printmaking, sculpture, media arts, photography, ceramics, and design. The First Night Fundraiser on Thursday, November 22 from 5-8 p.m. launches the event and tickets are $25. Along with the company of like-minded art supporters, attendees can purchase a variety of original artwork in advance, meet the artists face-to-face and enjoy libations and nosh from Concorde Entertainment Group’s Bridgette Bar and National Beer Hall. As well, the weekend market will open Friday, November 23 from 12-7 p.m. and Saturday, November 24 from 12-4 p.m. and admission is by donation.
