Simon Wroot "CPR Train Below Castle Mountain" metal
An exhibition of Simon Wroot's miniature metal landscapes take center stage on our feature artist's wall this month.
The miniature metal landscapes are all under 3 inches wide and mounted on 6x6 inch steel or bronze. All are created from photographs or from archived historic prints. In a graphics program the outlines of major elements are traced, printed, and glued to various metals. Each is then cut out with a jeweller's saw, and the fun starts...playing with textures, patinas, mixing metal colours to get the right feel when these layers are re-assembled and rivetted together. Each is very different, fun to create, and a challenge to present the effect visualized in the beginning.
