When I first began to paint, I saw my paintings as prayers, prayers to guide people to feel more human and more humane.  I use the Seven Teachings as a guide in my works:  Honesty, Humility, Courage, Love, Wisdom, Truth and Respect.  When followed, these teachings bring us to a better understanding of how to live harmoniously in this world.  When I finish a piece, I make sure the title is written on the front of the canvas as a little prayer.  The words are there to reminds us of what we might need to find peace. -Simone McLeod
