Steven Armstrong paints and is fascinated with the places that inspire and bind us. The bountiful landscapes of the West Coast offer a source of endless locations to be explored and painted. “When you are seeing something for the first time, it’s so new; it’s hard to get a really strong connection to it. Whereas going back to a place several times, you become familiar with it, and that allows you to explore it a little bit more. The next time you go back, or the time after that you might see something you didn’t notice the first time, and that could be what’s really important about that place. I approach painting as a form of communicating an ever-changing relationship with place.” It is this dedication and respect that Steven has captured in his paintings that resonates with collectors.
