Victoria artist Steven Armstrong reveals his latest exhibition at West End Gallery. A much loved and collected painter Steven’s primary goal is to capture the fleeting ephemeral beauty and transience of our wild West Coast landscapes.

He further delights in the challenge of creating images that express proper harmony and balance of composition, colour, tone and brushwork, transforming a static painting to one filled with life and motion. To achieve this he utilizes different elements such as light, time of day and the movement of shadows, all working together to direct the viewer’s attention around the canvas

Dramatic coastal scenes, camas in Garry Oak meadows and lush forests each present their own dynamic sense of movement and place. These moments, secured on canvas, ultimately reflect our own perceptions within nature’s transitions.
