Skeena Reece: StretchMark Closing Performance
Thursday, March 21, 7-8 pm Join us for a special performance by multidisciplinary artist Skeena Reece to mark the final week of StretchMark: A New Chapter Acquisition Project. Reece uses charade and “sacred clowning” to deeply connect with audiences in challenging and thought provoking performances.
StretchMark: A New Chapter Acquisition Project features works by contemporary First Nations and Métis artists on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
StretchMark explores tension resulting from moments of rapid growth or change. These marks are physical manifestations which honour the difficulty of these processes. StretchMark: A New Chapter Acquisition Project is curated by Franchesca Hebert-Spence, AGA Adjunct Curator of Indigenous Art, and supported by a New Chapter grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. This initiative ensures that works by significant contemporary Indigenous artists are represented in the AGA collection, shared and maintained for the future.
