The 6th annual SASFY Summer Arts Scene For Youth – summer arts school workshops program for youth ages 8 to16 in Central Okanagan is scheduled for August 10-15, 2015 on the theme “Somewhere Over the Rainbow… in the Land of Oz”. SASFY is very fortunate to be able to continue working and collaborating with SD#23 and Superintendent Hugh Gloster in providing our annual unique and inspiring summer arts school program right here in the Central Okanagan.
The SASFY mandate is to recruit arts excellence from the wealth of talented artists in the Okanagan Valley. SASFY is proud of its 2015 faculty team of 15 passionate and gifted workshops presenters who will be inspiring youth through the creative inter-connection of the arts process in the following arts disciplines:
Segment 1: Clothing Design- Michele Kienas, Photography- Claudia Kargl, Musical Theatre Dance- Liza Balehowsky, Painting-Meghan Wise, Culinary Arts- Bev Edward-Haines
Segment 2: Digitizing & Machine Embroidery – Judy Glagau, Drumming – Trevor Salloum, Stage Management –Bonnie Gratz, Introduction to Storytelling- Gabriel Newman, Woodworking – Rick Wiebe
Segment 3: Multi-Media- Pat Raphael, Voice – Nicole Desson, Theatre – Gill Goadby, Introduction to Graphic Design – Clayton Gauthier, Nature Sculpture – Annabel Stanley
SASFY’s Board of Directors, a passionate group of dedicated and passionate non paid volunteers, is committed to educational arts excellence and works very hard year-round to create an annual exceptional inter-connection of the arts experience for youth, not only youth from the valley but also for youth from across Canada to come and visit the beautiful Central Okanagan Valley in the summer.
The venue location for the SASFY summer arts school is in Lake Country, only 8 minutes from Kelowna’s International Airport. SASFY has had already welcomed students from Vancouver, Quebec, New Brunswick, Alberta, India, Mexico and London England.
