ASA Call for Submissions: “The Artist’s Lens 2023: Manifesting the Hidden”
Courtesy of the Alberta Society of Artists
The Alberta Society of Artists invited all Alberta artists (must be 18 years or older) to submit to the upcoming exhibition, The Artist’s Lens 2023: Manifesting the Hidden, displayed in the ASA Lower Gallery in Calgary, coinciding with the 2023 Exposure Photography Festival. “The Artist's Lens” is our annual open photography show, January 5 - February 25, 2023.
Artists are asked to explore ideas of the hidden and intangible. This idea is open to interpretation and can be expressed in different photographic-related mediums. Work could encompass the atmospheric, ‘other worldly’, mysticism, romanticism, mystery, nostalgia, horror, the macabre, apocalyptic, alien, and pinhole photography aesthetic. Works can focus on but not limited to the idea of the bedroom, the ocean, space, dreams, the subconscious and the surreal. The artist's statement will be crucial to the understanding of the artwork's intent in this exhibition call.
All submissions must have a photographic element or connection to photography as this exhibition will be participating in the Exposure Photography Festival. Mixed media collage, digital prints, photomanipulation, etc. are allowed. Framed artwork must not be larger than 36” in any direction nor smaller than 12” in any direction.
