Step into the forest with us and be captivated by the creative quality of this exhibition! During these unprecedented times as we spend more time in nature, these talented artists offer the viewer a peaceful-meditative experience to enrich our lives as we strive for the physical and mental wellbeing that nature has to offer. The abstract style of painting the forest is the premise by which Barbara Ballachey and Barbara Milne adhere to. They blend memory with a dreamlike quality, and welcome us to dive into the many painted layers to find a tranquil place. If you are attracted to a more representational depiction of the forest, Dulcie Foofat, Barbara Hirst and the late Bill Parker have mastered the forest landscape. Their illustrations of the trees, alpine flowers, forest vegetation, mountains, light, atmospheric perspective, etc., create the feeling of being physically transported into the forest. David More and Judith Zinkan are 'plein air' painters, meaning they like to paint the landscape on site. This is not always an easy task, but they both manage to capture an expressive changeability in the forest with the seasons, weather, and light. Last but not least we have some works by the late Margaret Shelton and John Snow. Both important Alberta artists in their own right, they exceled in printmaking and painting, with many of their works held in both private and public collections. We are honored to display a few of their forest masterpieces! We hope you will take the opportunity to come and see this exhibition in person, as it is not to be missed!
