November 14, 2pm - 4pm
Join us as we launch "The Literary Storefront: The Glory Years" by Deep Cove’s Trevor Carolan. The author will read an excerpt from his book and special guests will share stories. Poetry and live jazz with guitarist Henry Young,
long-time member of the mighty Nina Simone band, will follow, along with a sneak local preview of Carolan’s
documentary short Powerground which explores the environmental crisis through the eyes of Cascadian writers, artists, and ecologists.
Trevor Carolan has published many books of non-fiction, poetry, translation, anthologies, and literary journalism. He teaches English and Creative Writing at University of the Fraser Valley. His film, Powerground, premiered in Brussels and the U.K in October.
Juno Award nominee Henry Young has performed with many of the world’s jazz and R&B legends for more 40 years. As a guitarist, conductor, arranger, and composer, his performances have ranged from Montreux and Ronnie Scott’s in London to Carnegie Hall.
This event is presented in cooperation with Mother Tongue Publishing Limited.
