MIller family collection installation
This collection of exceptional Inuit carvings was developed by the Miller family of Vancouver B.C. They started collecting in the 1960s through to the 1980s. They were ahead of the curve of popularity in collecting Inuit art and had an excellent eye for quality. This collection surveys many top artists' work from different communities from throughout the arctic. This includes rare, early Lucy Tasseor carvings, iconic works like Pauta Saila's "Dancing Bear," one-off experiments such as Pie Kukshouts ceramic bust and a major George Tataniq carving. Because of the timing when this family was collecting, they were able to access carvings that are exceptionally rare to the market today. We thank the family for the opportunity to sell part of their collection.
In addition to the Miller family collection of carvings, we have selected a number of our favourite historic and contemporary Inuit prints from Madrona Gallery's collection to complement the exhibition. These prints are also available for sale.
