In the late 1850s, Chinese immigrants that came to the Canadian prairies looking for a better life. A highly regulated immigration process created communities of "married bachelors" and "paper sons".
This exhibition is on loan from the Bruce Peel Special Collections Library, University of Alberta, with materials from the Wallace B and Madeline H Chung Collection, and selected photographs from the Chung Collection and the Rare Books and Special Collections Library at the University of British Columbia.
