Jackie Wong, "Snow Rock Tri," 2020
The Spaces Between Us: Jackie Wong presents three recent series of photo-based works, which inspire us to question the factual nature of photography and explore the ways in which our perceptions of scenes shape our engagement with the natural world. Wong’s photographs of clouds, resulting from disasters and transformed into photo-based watercolours, as well as her photographs of orbs, unsettle us, leaving us to straddle that space in between.
Jackie Wong studied photography at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art and Education from the University of British Columbia. She has taught art at secondary schools in BC since 1993 and in West Vancouver since 2002. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Northern BC, the Richmond Art Gallery, and the West Vancouver Art Museum. Her practice includes photography, painting, and ceramics.
