Work From the Exhibition: "The Two Contrary States of the Human Soul"
Father Douglas, Work From the Exhibition: "The Two Contrary States of the Human Soul."
This series of works has been inspired by William Blake’s writings Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience which in themselves present a childlike, enchanted air. Although these poems were written over two hundred years ago, I have interpreted them to embrace contemporary thoughts on issues such as the environment, inclusiveness, aging, homelessness, depression, religious/racial differences, and mortality. This body of works explores two natures of humanity; these being the state of innocence and the state of experience. Both of these states are contrary and at the same time complimentary to each other.
Opening Reception on November 30th from 1pm to 4pm.
