To ‘unthink’ is to end one's thought or reverse the process of a thought; and this is posed as a provocation, an act within the space of the exhibition. The artworks included in the exhibition may approach materials in way that espouses no direct knowledge to its history, or perhaps its future; albeit photography, ceramics, or sculpture.
This exhibition has a grounding in understandings of ‘new materialism,’ and the speculation of objects – arguably philosophical fields that are still in flux. The space of Things you can’t unthink therefore is a deliberately unresolved set of relations, where artworks are proximate to each other in order to generate new intersections among them. Publication will include a range of voices; poets, artists and academics.
