Teena Dickerson and Jen Pankratz, "Time on Our Hands," 2022
Opening reception: First Friday, May 6 at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Artists' Talk 6:30 p.m.
Two artists and post-secondary art studio technicians explore how time pressure in their technician work influences their own studio practice.
Jen Pankratz is a ceramic artist who has spent the last two decades channeling the figure to explore erosion of the body and mind. To reflect these passages of time, she multi-fires her hand-built porcelaneous sculptures, layering slip, terra sigillata, underglaze, oxide wash and glaze between firings. The final layer is often created using post-firing techniques that include encaustic and casein paint.
Teena Dickerson is a metal artist who has spent the last two decades specializing in the lost wax casting technique in gold, silver and bronze. In designing this body of work, her sculptures blur spatial and temporal boundaries collaborating through time, back to the last moments of the mollusk, back to the minerals settling, and the metal forming.
