"Tracing the Elusive Past of the Chinarians"

Born and raised in Lethbridge, Lana Ing Gabor has been exploring the insights produced from her unusual cultural heritage (Hungarian and Chinese). Having just completed an M.F.A. at Emily Carr in Vancouver, Gabor will create her first solo exhibition. Her project consists of creating fake artifacts and documentary photographs and video of a fictive historical people, the Chinarians, and in doing so, explores the assumptions and concepts that surround cross-cultural exchange.
