Truck Contemporary Art in Calgary 2009 10 Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta T3C 0K4
January 8 - April 2
"Sacred Circle" transforms the gallery into a working ritual space through the cleansing, blessing and casting a sacred circle of sculptural objects. Small ceramic and mixed media pieces made while in residence at the Banff Centre echo the landscape in form and materials, attempting to bring the energy of the natural environment into the gallery space and provide a level of mystic connection to the viewer.
Niki Boghossian is a Toronto based artist whose work explores the individual’s connection to spirituality and the infinite through nature and the everyday. Employing methods of mystical divination and ritual practice in her work, Boghossian examines the spiritual and sometimes magical processes by which one attempts to find meaning through a critical yet playful lens. Boghossian received a BFA from Concordia University in 2007 and has shown throughout Ontario, Quebec and more recently at The Museum of Longing and Failure in Bergen, Norway. She recently participated in The Universe and Other Systems, a residency with Shary Boyle at the Banff Centre in Banff, AB.
