John King’s new paintings are bold, gestural and possess a clamorous energy. The larger, looser compositions resemble a painterly joyride; one in which aesthetic consequences are disregarded in favor of a careening, now or never high-spiritedness – though never absconding with a well-practiced, intimate knowledge of paint.
