Season 3, Episode 2: Reece Terris

The Audain Art Museum (AAM) launches Season 3 of the immensely popular Tuesday Night Talks (TNT) that offer a unique opportunity for online participants to simultaneously enter the Museum and the artist’s studio or home during the evening, while learning about key works in the AAM’s Permanent Collection directly from their respective makers.

Hosted by the Museum’s Director & Chief Curator, Dr. Curtis Collins, this second Episode features Reece Terris, a Vancouver-based artist who is best known for his large scale experiential installations. Terris will be discussing a series of pigment prints and a scale model from 2006 entitled Bridge in the AAM’s holding. These works document a pedestrian wooden bridge project in East Vancouver created by the artist that enabled visitors to move from one residential location to another. Such an architectonic effort is in keeping with Terris’s history of major constructions including a six-storey apartment-like setting built for the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2009 and an alteration to the facade of the Western Front artist-run centre on 8th Avenue East in 2010. Terris graduated from the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the School of Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University in 2006 and received a VIVA Award as well as the Vancouver Mayor’s Art Award in 2010. He has exhibited his work at public and artist-run galleries across Canada for over twenty years, in addition to the creation of numerous independent site-based projects.
