"Verlag Notes"

Verlag Notes brings together works from publishing houses ‐ or Verlags ‐ whose production is solely focused on artists' books. The Banff Centre Library's artist's book collection contains works by publishers who present radically different means of making. This exhibition is bracketed by acquisitions from two such publishers, Rainer Verlag and Perro Verlag. In spite of drastically different approaches to specialized publishing, the works produced by these two houses draw universal connections between artist and press collaborations, emphasizing the physicality, intent, and form of books as art objects.
