When Matousek left the former Czechoslovakia and came to Canada, he embraced its landscape as his own. For many years he focused his energies on painting watercolour landscapes. Having expanded his repertoire to include urban landscape, the artist finds that switching from watercolour to oils keeps his work fresh. The inspiration for this exhibiton comes from Winnipeg’s working class neighbourhoods, where the simple homes tell their own story.
