Richard Cole, Nikol Haskova & Floyd Elzinga, "Voluntary Simplicity," 2022
The absence of excess becomes Voluntary Simplicity with new works by Richard Cole, Nikol Haskova, and Floyd Elzinga.
Join us on Saturday, March 19, from 12 pm - 4 pm for the opening reception and to view this new body of work that explores the simple thrills of nature.
Richard Cole is known for his sweeping, expansive landscapes and easily shifts focus to the precise detailing of branches and bark thereby mastering the play of light and depth of shadows against a background of powerful, untamed brushstrokes.
Nikol Haskova's latest, "Visceral" makes an impactful statement with perfectly placed tones of pink, pulsing along the horizon before a soft, warm sky. Inspired by street art and incorporating it into the earth, Nikol creates a wonderful balance between the natural and constructed, releasing a breath of fresh air that transcends beyond the imagery on her wooden panel.
Floyd Elzinga creates his magnificent sculptures from Corten steel before allowing them to rust and oxidize organically. His landscape panels are created with treated steel to give the effect of sweeping clouds, whispering in the distance, adding a three-dimensional element to the panels, anchoring bold and powerful trees that sit above the backdrop to bring an industrial silhouette and complement the metallic softness.
