Wabi-sabi , a Japanese term, in part portrays a true sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing. The beauty Hiroaki Kobayashi uncovers in the Canadian Rockies and blissful rural landscapes has a mood of elegance, quiet taste and gentleness that is akin to his Japanese aesthetic. Hiro moved to Canada from Japan in 2000.
Join us for the Artist talk where Hiro will talk about behind the scenes of his serene landscape photography and his creative process filtered by his Japanese heritage from his primitive camera system. Also Hiro will demonstrate several techniques and share tips of how to photograph landscapes without damaging the natural environment.
The show runs from Feb 4 - March 1.
The artist talk is Sat Feb 15 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
