ᐁᐧᐢᑫᐧᐱᑖᑲᐣ wîskwêpitâkan sacred bundle by Adele ᒪᐢᑿᓱᐤᐏᐢᑵᐤ Arseneau honors the children and survivors of the Residential School system. A total of 161 cradleboard and mossbag pieces represent every school named in Canada’s Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement. The work was developed by Arseneau and was supported and assisted by regional Indigenous Communities.
These works combine hide-tanning, beadwork, carving and community, with the moss-lined cradleboards nestled in the fur of traditional home-tanned animal hides - bear, elk , deer, moose and buffalo - symbolically returning the children to comfort of the culture from which they were taken.
