The official, in-person opening of both exhibitions will be taking place on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 7 pm. The exhibiting artists will be in attendance. The Artists’ and the Curator’s Talk will follow the official opening.
The Art Incubator Gallery showcases “Divergence of Light” – a suite of nine neo-surrealist paintings by Yvonne DuBourdieu, an Edmonton-based visual artist and a filmmaker. Her current body of work looks at the dichotomy of power and weakness within us and the unease that manifests when our vulnerabilities are laid bare through heighted uncertainty. Her works combine technical precision and a feeling of mystery. DuBourdieu wants the viewer to engage with the visible and tangible, as well as the suggested and the allegorical in her paintings. In general, the works debate on the cycle of life and reflect the artist’s concerns on the critical aspects of the human conditions at this pivotal moment in the history of humankind.
