"Country Wives"
LEAH DORION
Country Wives, September 1 to October 15, 2011 Chapel Gallery, North Battleford.
There’s a tactility in Leah Dorion’s work that mimics her subject — the expression of Metis women in dance and domestic activity. Based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Dorion paints women in traditional pursuits, told in a colourful folk-art style, dotted with beads. Her show, Country Wives, on September 1 to October 15 at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford, is one of three exhibitions this fall at the gallery by Metis artists.
