Toronto artist Steve Driscoll presents a suite of paintings about celestial phenomena in And a Dark Wind Blows, an immersive installation that features an artificial lake and boardwalk. The large-scale centerpiece, These Are Truly the Last Days, uses swirling eddies of pigmented urethane to capture the northern lights. “I want to evoke that feeling of the wind blowing against you, of being excited, exalted in the presence of natural power,” says Driscoll. Other paintings explore sunsets, constellations and the Milky Way.
