At the opening of an exhibition of the thirty finalists' works at the Art Gallery of Calgary on November 1, 2013, Kingston Prize co-founder Julian Brown announced the 2013 winners of the fifth biennial portrait competition in the presence of Alberta's Lieutenant-Governor Col. (Ret'd) the Hon. Donald S. Ethell.
