An exhibition of new paintings of buildings n Banff National Park – both humble and grand.

Parkitecture is a word that has been around for about a hundred years. It refers to architecture in the American National Parks that is rustic, made of timber and stone, meant to harmonize with the majestic landscape.

There are plenty of examples of "Parkitecture" in Banff National Park!

I am drawn to the historical buildings that have been so well maintained by all the parties involved. I love to visit Banff to paint. This show is an opportunity to incorporate some of the architecture into the mountain landscapes that I have always enjoyed painting, to showcase the human activity that has occurred here in the spectacular Rocky Mountains.

Banff is a wonderful destination – but we all know it is not the destination that is important but rather the journey to get there… That is why I have included some classic cars in some of the paintings. Cars are cool!

Parkitecture is an ongoing series of work. This exhibition includes a few older paintings from the Poster Series; many earlier Parkitecture paintings have already found a home. There are so many buildings I would still like to paint – in town and elsewhere the beautiful Banff National Park.

The exhibition is part of the Banff Culture Collective Festival Walk during the Banff Centre Mountain Film & Book Festival.
